God of love, even though we call you by many names, every religious tradition calls us to be reconciled with one another, to treat each other with justice, and to live in peace.
Lead our nation in the path of peace.
We pray for those we have harmed — especially innocent Iraqi citizens, our military and their families, and those who now see the United States as a selfish bully.
Redeem us from error and arrogance.
Free us, and those who call themselves our enemies, from needing the world to think as we do.
Only the power of your love can lead to reconciliation after so much hate and violence.
Equip your people here and around the world to speak truth to power, and renew us when our anger or sorrow paralyzes us.
Soften the hearts of those who choose violence, and lead us all in paths of justice.
Give us courage and humility as we live as citizens of this great country and of the world.
We pray trusting in your power and your presence. AMEN.
